Commercial | Residential
For many years the Student Union facilities at Bath University have fallen far behind what is provided at other comparable universities. Stubbs Rich Architects were asked to help with the Union’s aspirations for an increased physical presence on campus and delivering lively, open-plan break-out areas that act as living rooms for students.
What We Did:
Mannington Commercial’s American Oak was chosen for the common room, reception, bar, cafe, and dining areas. The soft warm honey shades and subtle graining gave all the character of classic oak floorboards but with all the functionality features of a vinyl tile. Simon Coles, Architect from Stubbs Rich Architects explains: “We chose Mannington Commercial for a number of reasons. It looks great, and because of the way it is constructed it doesn’t look old or wear down like timber finishes. It is fantastically robust – you know it will stand the test of time even in high traffic areas like the common room.”
